DEADLINE PRIOR TO MARCH 1 – FILE FOR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION

It is very simple to file for Homestead Exemption online, but you can also apply in person.

The Pinellas County Property Appraiser Office website is: http://www.pcpao.org/
On the right side of the site, you go down to Search our Database.
An easy search is to do so by name.  Use only your last name to narrow the selections.
Find your property and click on it….
Below your name and property description you will find an area that is blue called: File For Homestead Exemption…
Simply following the prompts to provide the proper information….

In case you are not aware of the benefits of Homestead Exemption….There is a criteria that is followed to offer homeowners a discount on their property taxes on their primary residence.  More information can be found on the PCPAO.org website.

FILE PRIOR TO MARCH 1
When you purchase a home and want to qualify for an exemption, you may file online or in person at one of our offices. You may file anytime during the year, but before the state’s deadline of March 1 for the tax year in which you wish to qualify. However, you are urged to file as soon as possible once you own, occupy and make that home your legal residence.

If you purchased your property after January 1st, if you wish to qualify for an exemption for the following year, you must file an original application in one of our offices by March 1.
